Depression and Anxiety Support

Many men experience depression and anxiety differently than women, often showing symptoms through anger, irritability, or withdrawal. My evidence-based counselling approaches help you understand these feelings and develop practical coping strategies. We will work together to identify triggers, build resilience, and create sustainable mental wellness practices.

Trauma and PTSD Counselling

Trauma affects everyone differently, and men often face additional barriers in seeking help. Whether you're dealing with workplace trauma, childhood experiences, or recent events, my trauma-informed approach provides a safe environment to process difficult experiences and work towards healing.

Workplace Conflict Management

Professional environments can create unique stressors that impact your mental well-being. My workplace-focused counselling helps you navigate difficult relationships, manage work-related anxiety, and develop strategies for maintaining your mental well-being whilst advancing your career.

LGBTQIA Mental Health Support

Finding your authentic self can be particularly challenging for LGBTQIA+ men. I provide specialised support that understands the intersection of gender identity, sexual orientation, and emotional support, helping you build confidence and resilience in your journey.

Why Men's Mental Health Matters

Research shows that men are less likely to seek mental health support, yet they face significant challenges, including higher suicide rates and increased substance use. Our men’s mental well-being services address these specific concerns by:

Frequently asked questions

Only you can determine if you’re ready for counselling. If you’re finding it difficult to cope with everyday life, experiencing persistent low mood, anxiety, anger, or feeling increasingly isolated, it may be beneficial to reach out for support. Many men find that talking to a professional helps them gain clarity and develop effective coping strategies.

My approach recognises that men often experience and express mental well-being and support challenges differently. I use practical, solution-focused techniques that align with how many men prefer to process emotions and solve problems. I also address specific issues that commonly affect men, such as workplace stress, relationship challenges, family violence, suicidal thoughts and societal expectations around masculinity.

No referral is required to access my service. However, you may wish to discuss your mental well-being concerns with your GP, who can provide additional support and may be able to help with Mental Health Care Plan options for potential Medicare rebates.

The number of sessions varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some men benefit from just a few sessions focused on specific issues, while others find longer-term support more helpful for complex challenges. We’ll discuss this during your initial consultation and regularly review your progress together.

Research shows that online counselling can be just as effective as face-to-face sessions for many mental health concerns. Some men actually prefer online sessions as they feel more comfortable discussing sensitive topics from their own environment. I offer both options so you can choose what works best for your situation.

This is completely normal and very common among men seeking mental health support. My approach doesn’t require you to immediately dive into deep emotional discussions. I will start where you’re comfortable and gradually build trust and communication skills. Many men find that practical, problem-solving approaches help them open up naturally over time.
